URBAN PERMACULATURE
Together with partners from Denmark, Romania, Turkey, Croatia and Germany, we are finalizing the process of working on a manual for conducting workshops on the topic of Urban Permaculture.
Partners involved in the project:
FGU Aarhus (Denmark)
InterCollege ApS (Denmark)
Central European Chamber of Commerce (Poland)
International Internships (Ruminia)
Kocaeli İl Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğü – KPDoNE (Turkey)
Permakulture Dalmacija (Croatia)
Interbildung (Germany)
The goal of the project is to develop and initiate an introductory course on urban permaculture as part of a broader professional education.
The project was developed based on three trends:
- Vocational education and training trend - shifts from focusing on teaching a narrow set of skills for a predefined, traditional occupation, to offering richer cross-sector competencies tailored to the needs of a dynamic labor market - Demographic trend - the EU's urban population will grow from about 70% in 2020 to more than 80% by 2050. An increase of 10 p.p. in 30 years could lead to an increase of 45 million urban residents in the EU. - Social, cultural and political trend - EU urban development policy emphasizes an integrated, sustainable approach: "The different dimensions of urban life - environmental, economic, social and cultural - are interrelated, and success in urban development can only be achieved through an integrated approach." The project partners have been working together for three years to develop a VET course on urban permaculture for students with fewer educational opportunities (young people who face challenges in engaging in traditional educational paths).
The course consists of a 15-day training course with included learning objectives and training methods covering 3 modules:
Module 1: External Permaculture
Module 2: Internal Permaculture
Module 3: Urban Wildlife
The manual includes:
- A description of the course and suggestions for integrating it into broader VET programs or implementing it as a stand-alone short course. - A framework for the course, including lesson plans, learning objectives, and suggestions for reflection and observation of learning outcomes - A series of training methods (activities) that use an informal approach to learning The manual was presented to cooperating schools at an event promoting the product of our international work.

VET 4.0 – VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING IN THE WORKING WORLD
Funding:
ERASMUS + action 2.
Consortium:
8 European organizations from Germany, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Lithuania, Finland and Sweden, and Poland (CECC).
Project idea:
Developing new innovative programs and methods of practical vocational education in the context of the 4th industrial revolution, i.e.: industrie 4.0, internet of things, smart factories, cyber-physical systems.
The idea of implementing the project comes from the assumption that the world is currently entering the so-called fourth industrial revolution. The phenomenon with which such concepts as Industry 4.0, Internet of Things, smart factories, cyber-physical systems are associated is recognized by experts as one of the main development trends in the coming years. It is certain that these changes are challenging all areas not only of industry, but also of everyday life. The project leader - a regional unit for the implementation of vocational education in Cologne, Germany - has submitted a project in consortium with 8 European organizations under ERASMUS + to develop new, innovative programs and methods for practical vocational education in the context of the aforementioned 4th industrial revolution.
Research indicates that education also needs to adapt to modern realities. In a situation where people are increasingly being replaced by machines, and the operation of businesses is based on completely new systems, the competencies that are required of employees are also changing. It becomes necessary to prepare students as well as teachers for the coming changes. Hence the project involves three main tasks:
- develop a profile of competencies required in the „świecie pracującym 4.0”
- preparation of 4 modern vocational teaching modules for students
- preparation of 4 modern competence enhancement module for vocational teachers.
Planned goals to be achieved:
- identification of future-oriented new qualification requirements, especially ba European level
- sensitize teachers and trainers to current and upcoming changes
- development of innovative modules dedicated to teachers, trainers and students, which in the first stage of the creation of new curricula will focus on the professions - mechatronics and electronics technician, and prepare them so that they are adaptable in other sectors
- enabling collaboration among students across Europe through learning platforms
- the Chamber of Commerce of Central Europe was invited to participate in the project as an organization providing a voice and point of view for entrepreneurs. We are the only Chamber in the entire partnership consisting mainly of entities operating in the vocational education sector (schools, universities, government/ local government units). The role of the Chamber is to support partners in substantive activities and to spread knowledge about the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the changes it brings among Polish vocational schools and businesses.
