Polish Legion: Parcel for Poles on the Borderlands

Attention: we are preparing Christmas packages for Poles in war-stricken Ukraine!

  • We will take them to Lviv, Ternopil and many places where Poles in Ukraine live.
  • We are also collecting items needed for those fighting the Muscovites on the front lines.
  • Everyone can make a package from themselves and their family for Poles in the borderlands!

Compatriots live in poverty in Ukraine (more than 40% of people are out of work because of the war), under threat of bombing and often without electricity, heating or hot water. We are making a package of the same kind we would like to get for Christmas, the same kind we received in the communist years from the West. We prefer sustainable food: (sample list below) and a wafer, a Christmas card necessarily with your signature and your locality. You can provide an email. We buy the box at the post office or pack the gifts in a regular bag. We take the package to our Polish Legion field office or call the field coordinator who will pick it up. We urge ALL patriots to spend 50 zloty to express solidarity with Poles in the borderlands. We will take the parcels by cars in transports on December 12 and 20. We are collecting warm clothing, sleeping bags, flashlights, power-banks, generators (hard to find but especially needed) for the fighters. We are looking for more vans to lend with a driver.

  2. Canned goods, groats, rice, oil, candy (Santa), cocoa, poppy seeds, red borscht 2-in-1, baking powder, jam, milk in a tube or powdered , nuts/raisins a couple of candies for children - mix - fudge, jellies, jelly beans, powdered soup.
  3. Possible in addition: Travel light battery packs/battery for them because there are frequent power outages and a powerbank (can be used).
  4. Oily cream for winter, thick socks for winter. A plush toy had.
  5. This is a Christmas package - a wafer would be nice and a card and possibly a candle.

NOTE: Sugar is readily available in Ukraine and is overly heavy to transport. The parish priest of a friendly Polish Catholic parish writes specifically:
(...) We do the following food kit every month at the parish for one poor family:

Flour - 1 kg

  • Rice - 1 kg
  • Oat flakes or oat groats - 1 kg
  • Buckwheat groats - 1 kg
  • Barley groats - 1 kg
  • Pea groats - 1 kg
  • Pasta - 1 kg
  • Sunflower oil - 1 liter
  • Black/green loose tea -2 pieces
  • Soluble coffee - 1 piece
  • Canned corn - 1 piece
  • Canned peas - 1 item
  • Cocoa - 1 piece
  • Tomato puree in small packets
  • Canned meat and Canned fish (depending on how many we have)
  • Spices

If I may make a hint, it is better to replace the pudding in the packets from Poland with poppy seeds, because here in the Borderlands people rarely use pudding. On the other hand, everyone makes kutia for Christmas
