Who We Are
VET4Digital is an international project aimed at developing digital skills within VET systems in Sub-Saharan Africa. The project supports VET institutions, trainers and curriculum designers, students and young professionals, as well as employers in the ICT sector, so that training programs are better aligned with the real needs of the labor market and increase graduates’ employment prospects. At the same time, we prioritize inclusivity—especially for people in rural areas and disadvantaged groups.
How we work
The “VET + Business” Model
We identify skills gaps in collaboration with employers and then translate them into modern training programs and e-learning tools. The project combines the transfer of best practices from Europe, training and workshops for VET staff, and practical components—collaboration with ICT companies and work-based training (internships/apprenticeships).
Working with work packages
We work in work packages (WP), and we coordinate progress at the consortium level—the steering committee meets online on a regular basis to ensure the effective achievement of the project’s objectives.
Work packages
Our work is organized into five key work packages, ensuring a comprehensive approach to achieving the project’s objectives.
WP1
Management and coordination
Administration, finance, quality assurance, monitoring, and evaluation of activities.
WP2
Strengthening cooperation between VET and the business sector
Methodology and needs assessments in partner countries, publication of recommendations, and an OER e-learning platform for courses.
WP3
International capacity building
Capacity-building sessions, online training for teachers and curriculum designers, mentoring (VET Advisors), and online workshops.
WP4
Knowledge transfer and implementation
Virtual mobility (Shuriken system), development and piloting of four VET courses, work-based training in the ICT sector, and a study visit to Poland.
WP5
Dissemination and sustainability
A plan for the dissemination and use of results, a sustainability plan, and the implementation of post-project communication activities.
Our training programs and activities
As part of the project, we are implementing a comprehensive program of training and professional development activities tailored to the needs of the ICT labor market.
4 innovative VET courses
E-commerce and digital marketing, cybersecurity, web development, and systems administration—designed to meet the needs of the private sector in partner countries.
Pilot courses
At VET institutions in Rwanda, Cameroon, Kenya, and Tanzania: each partner will pilot one selected course for 3–4 months with a group of at least 10 students (online, under the supervision of a teacher).
5 international online training courses
A two-day event for trainers and curriculum designers—sharing knowledge and aligning education with the needs of the ICT market.
Mentoring and advisory support
Two international advisors (VET Advisors) from Europe are working with African partners for four months on modernizing teaching methods and collaborating with ICT companies.
Virtual mobility – Shuriken System
A total of 100 students divided into 5 groups; each group participates in a 4-day training session and then has access to a self-study tool.
Project results
The project's results will be made publicly available and include, among other things:
Research methodology (D2.1) and 4 national reports (D2.2)
The final publication on the digital transformation of VET (D2.3), translated into French and Swahili
OER e-learning platform for courses (D2.4)
